Connecting The Asia - Pacific Region

Jetstar Airways is a Qantas subsidiary that was established in Melbourne in 2003. During its first year, Jetstar only flew within Australia, offering low-cost flights as an alternative to the full-service options available through its parent company. The first international destinations to be added were New Zealand and Singapore, and later on, smaller airlines were created to provide services to other countries in the region, including Japan and Vietnam. Currently, Jetstar Airways operates over 4,000 flights every week and serves more than 70 destinations in the Asia - Pacific region.

Flying with Jetstar Airways

Ticket types:

Economy Class tickets are the standard when flying with Jetstar, and although this is mostly considered a low-cost airline, Business Class tickets are offered on certain routes in addition to the standard Economy seats. In Business class, travellers enjoy access to seats with larger width and legroom, dedicated check-in and boarding channels, and gourmet meals.

Fare types are divided into Starter (Economy) and Business, although they can be personalised through the airline's add-on bundles. For example, Economy Starter Plus bundles offer free checked baggage, free seat selection, no-fee changes and meal vouchers. Additional services (such as extra legroom or in-flight entertainment) can be purchased separately. Max Bundles offer greater flexibility, a higher luggage allowance, and access to airport lounges where available. Lastly, FlexiBix fares are available to Business class ticket holders and offer credit on voluntary flight cancellations, complimentary seat selection, extra checked and carry-on luggage and same day flight changes. Fare rules are explained in detail here .

Although Jetstar does not have its own frequent flyer programme, travellers who are members of Qantas Frequent Flyer, Skywards (Emirates), Lotus Miles (Vietnam Airlines) and JAL Mileage Bank (Japan Airlines) can accrue miles when flying with Jetstar.
