Introduction to Lufthansa
Lufthansa's history can be traced back to 1926 when the Berlin-based company Deutsche Luft Hansa AG, or DLH, was formed. DLH was Germany's "flag carrier" airline up until 1945 when the airline's activities were suspended. At the beginning of January 1953, the snappily named 'Aktiengesellschaft für Luftverkehrsbedarf', or Luftag, was founded in Cologne, Germany. Luftag later acquired the logo and name of the liquidated DLH and became Germany's flag carrier.
