Established on 12th October 1937, Malaysia Airlines was commissioned by the government of the Colonial Straits Settlement to run an air service between Singapore and Penang. Within ten years, the airline had become an international carrier, employing more than 2000 staff and operating an impressive fleet of aircraft.
