Established in 1963 by His Majesty King Hussein of Jordan, **Royal Jordanian ** was intended as a way of linking the country to the rest of the world, in terms of culture, trade, and of course, travel. The airline has been instrumental in bringing tourists into Jordan and a pristine safety record makes them an attractive choice. The average age of their 27 aircraft is just 5 years, and the fleet is frequently updated. As part of a continuing bid to increase efficiency and lower fuel costs, in 2014 they began using five of the new Boeing 787s for medium and long-haul flights.
Covering four continents and 56 cities, **Royal Jordanian ** regularly add more destinations to their roster. By 2015 they had carried three million people to their city of choice and flown 36,000 flights. Operations are based in the stunning Queen Alia International Airport in the country's capital Amman; the airport was designed to look like Bedouin tents on the horizon.
In 2007 **Royal Jordanian ** became part of the Oneworld Airline alliance, an international team of 14 carriers that work in tandem. Membership offers a range of benefits for passengers, including the chance to fly to 150 different countries and over 1000 cities directly to or from Amman, or with just one stop over.
**Royal Jordanian ** have two classes of travel, Crown Class and Economy Class. As the more expensive option, Crown offers seats that recline into cosy beds, and have personal TV screens and productivity tools like USB ports and charging points. In Economy, the seats are spacious and comfortably padded. There are in-flight entertainment and pillows if you need to catch 40 winks. Flights are cheaper if booked well in advance, so if you're planning a trip to Jordan, arrange your tickets as early as possible for the best prices.
As part of their Royal Plus program, the airline offers an Earn and Redeem frequent flyer program. Members can also join the Family Plus club, which enables up to eight people from the same family to earn and share points.
Check-in: Passengers can select a seat and print a boarding pass online, then present it at the **Royal Jordanian ** Web Check-In counter. It's also possible to check-in at the airport or use the Advanced Check-In facility if you are flying from Amman. This option allows passengers to drop off their luggage and check-in between eight and 24 hours before departure.
